LENS·IELTS.
Your IELTS band, skill by skill — Listening, Reading and full-length Writing.
A ~73-minute diagnostic at real IELTS pace — three locked, timed sections cut down from the live test: Listening that plays audio through your device, academic Reading, and a full two-task Writing paper. You leave with a band for each skill on the 9-band scale, an indicative overall band — the mean of the three skills we test, to the nearest half-band (your real IELTS overall also folds in Speaking, which needs a live examiner) — and a straight verdict on what to fix. If you're already there, we'll say so plainly — you don't need any paid prep or coaching, just free official practice and your own discipline. That's the point.

IELTS is scored skill by skill — and so are you. LENS runs Listening, Reading and Writing at the real exam's pace and marks each one against the same 9-band scale the test itself uses. The objective skills are scored by fixed rules; the Writing is read against the four official criteria. What you get back is a band per skill and an overall band — not a vague “keep practising.”
| Section | Questions | Time | Pace | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Listening | 10 | 15 min | 75s/item | Plays audio |
| Reading | 10 | 18 min | 108s/item | From the passage only |
| Writing | 2 | 40 min — 2 tasks | 1200s/item | AI-marked on 4 criteria |
About 73 timed minutes across three sections. The Listening section plays audio through your device — sound on, headphones recommended. Reading and Listening are scored by fixed rules against the official IELTS band scale. Writing is two full tasks in 40 minutes, AI-marked at temperature 0 on the four official criteria — and writing under the word count (150 words for Task 1, 250 for Task 2) caps Task Achievement, exactly as on the real test. Section order is fixed, timers never pause, and a finished section is locked, just like test day.
Three questions this test answers
Wherever you are right now, LENS·IELTS gives a straight answer — no upselling, no vague “keep practising.”
My band in each skill
Listening, Reading and Writing each get their own band on the 9-band scale, anchored to the official IELTS band scale — so you see exactly which skill is carrying you and which one is holding your overall band down, not a single blurred average.
Band 7, or stuck at 6.5?
Your Writing is marked against the four official criteria — Task Achievement, Coherence & Cohesion, Lexical Resource, and Grammatical Range & Accuracy — so you find out whether your writing is actually at Band 7 or quietly capped at 6.5, and precisely which criterion is the ceiling.
Am I ready, or what do I fix?
The report turns the gap between your bands and your target into a clear call: sit it now, fix one thing first, or give it more time — with the highest-yield skill to work on named, and free official practice pointed to if that's all you need.
What the report gives you
One honest verdict
Ready / targeted fix / structured prep / rethink the timeline — decided by fixed rules, with the reasoning shown. If you don't need paid help, the report says so and names free official IELTS resources instead.
A band per skill
Your Listening, Reading and Writing bands on the 9-band scale, and an indicative overall band — the mean of the three tested skills, rounded to the nearest half-band — reported ±0.5, never false precision.
Marked on all four criteria
A band on each of Task Achievement, Coherence & Cohesion, Lexical Resource, and Grammatical Range & Accuracy, with the specific criterion capping your Writing band called out plainly — the fastest half-band to win back.
Week by week
A focused plan to your chosen test window, guidance on how much runway your target really needs, and a parent one-pager in plain language. If a sitting can't be validly scored, the re-sit is on us.
Backed by AI that thinks like a top tutor
Two engines, one report. Your objective skills are scored by fixed rules, so Listening and Reading are always fair and consistent — identical answers always get the identical band. Your Writing is read against the official descriptors at temperature 0. Then our AI reads the pattern behind it all the way a sharp tutor would, and surfaces the smart, specific things most reports never reach:
Why you really lost marks
It separates marks lost to the clock or misreading the question from genuine gaps in English — because the fixes are completely different, and the cheapest marks to win back are the ones that were never about your English in the first place.
What's holding your band down
It finds the single skill — or the single writing criterion — quietly dragging your overall band down, the highest-yield thing to fix first, the way a great tutor spots it in five minutes instead of five weeks.
How long it actually takes
It turns the gap to your target band into an honest number of focused weeks against the test window you're aiming for — so you never have to guess whether you have enough runway before test day.
The AI writes the insight; it never touches the band. That is exactly what keeps the report both smart and fair — and it's why students and parents actually act on it.
The objective skills are scored deterministically, and the Writing is AI-marked at temperature 0 to the official band descriptors — so two students with identical work always get the identical bands. The overall band is simply the mean of your skills rounded to the nearest half-band. If the honest answer is “self-prep with free official materials,” that is the verdict that prints. We sell nothing inside the report — no coaching company can copy that sentence.
